Public Service Announcement (and the Bear)
Normally I don't post YouTube videos, at least not directly. But this should be seen by anyone who drives... (This affects me personally, since I'll be driving a scooter soon...)

EDIT:

And now for the funny one....

Please pass these along, they could save a life. If you pass YouTube videos by email, or post them to your LJ, or show them to friends, consider reposting at least one of these. The more aware people know they have to be, the more aware they will be.

Been there, had that happen while riding a bicycle (Same problems as shown in that commercial). Dork misjudged how fast I was actually going. I'm amazed I got off with no injuries. But yeah, that's a a good commercial.

Only tip I can give you is to wear a reflective vest. It will go a long way to making you more visible to drivers.

I can relate -- I was actually hit by a Chevy truck once while riding the bike (the asshole simply DID NOT LOOK at all). Fortunately, the damage was limited to a little scratch to my elbow from the fall.

From then on, I want you to know: if I let you pass first, it doesn't mean I respect you; it means that I do not trust that you're NOT a dumbass :)

On a side note: in the video, once the guy starts looking left, there's a clear view of the road to his right, and it's clear of vehicles for at least 150m (600 ft) stretch. 2 seconds after the driver looks right, the motorcyclist rams into the car, which means he rode 150 m in 2 seconds, i.e. doing 160mph on the city road, which is a crystal clear violation. So it's all his fault. :-b

I think the motorcyclist was going a lot faster than that, it wasn't really his fault either. His nav computer malfunctioned and dropped him out of warp right next to the car.
I've had it happen before, just was lucky enough to not have an obstruction in front of me. ;-)

I fail, I missed the bear and didn't count all the passes either. :-/

Thanks for friending me. :-)
I've been too wrapped up in RL to spend much time online and it's been a while since I've been around here.
Is there a reason you've friended me now?
I friended you because you seemed nice and I still think so, I'm just curious why you've friended me back even though I've been absent. o.0

I was just fishing thru my friends list and cleaning stuff out and sorting and yadda yadda... And I sa you had friended me and I remembered a lot of good and supportive posts by you and figured that hey, you're a friend of mine. I should friend you. :)

Well, that was thoughtful of ya! ^.^

Sorry I haven't been very talkative lately, RL has caught up with me and I haven't been able to hang around LJ as much as I'd like to.
It seems like the only time I'm on here is to complain anymore. :-/
I do hope to do better in the future.

I think your excluded from my whining at the moment. If you really want to consider us friends I can change that, just let me know.

Please don't take it personal, I thought you seemed like a nice person from the beginning. I'm just reclusive by nature and very careful about how much personal information I let onto the net. I've also gotten gun-shy about being overly hopeful at making new friends.
So it's up to you. If you want to let me know, if not I understand.

Oh, yeah, I tend to ramble on when I'm tired. Sorry if this doesn't make any sense.
