Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend  Next Entry
Current mood: sore

Owie.
I've been in pain for almost two weeks straight now.

  • My hands, arms, legs, and feet have been going numb and/or tingling
  • My right knee has been flaring up again
  • My lower back has been hurting and twinging
  • It feels like a wooden wedge is being shoved up under my shoulder blades
  • My upper traps are tense, sore, painful, and knotted to hell and back
  • My neck hurts and is stiff and sore
  • I've been getting headaches in the back of my skull and behind my eyes
  • My entire right side has been tense and twitching and in pain
  • I've been getting the shakes (muscle twitches and tremors)
  • My forearms are tensing back up and hurting
All this, and I can't get a straight answer from a doctor.  "We can't find what's wrong with you, here, have some pain killers."  "Here, have some muscle relaxers, maybe that will help."  "You're fat, go exercise, it'll clear right up."  (Yeah, love the last one. That was the SPECIALIST I went to.)

It's affecting my work, because sitting in a chair for any period of time causes everything to get worse and I wind up writhing in pain trying to get comfortable.  I had to get special permission to be able to work from home, so I can lie down and utilize a heating pad and ice packs and pain killers and pills that I really shouldn't be taking while working.  I haven't been going out much, or doing anything with friends, because even walking is painful at times.  (Yes, to all you people I've been blowing off for various reasons, I'm sorry, I've been spending my spare time on a couch.  All this has gotten me irritable to a point I'm really not fun to be around, and I'm sorry.)

I just wish I knew what was wrong with me, so I could get it FIXED.  I hate doctors.

Your task chair at work might be an issue.

ask HR if they have a better (medically certified ergonomic) chair option you could use.

I hope you find out whats going on soon, dear.

I can't remember, have you tried chiropractic?

Shit, a lot of that sounds like pressure on nerves, back probably. Couldn't hurt to try stretching it out, NOT BACK, but forwards. I've finally gotten over mine that was plaguing me for a YEAR! How? I started sitting like "L" from Death Note. Sorry to hear but it does sound familiar particularly that sitting in a chair makes it worse.

Ouch. That really sounds miserable. :(

I'd keep seeing doctors till someone can find out what's going on with you. I don't like seeing doctors either, though. :/

... when's the last time you've had a tetanus shot? A lot of the things you're talking about here sounds neurological.

Just got one a few days ago, when I went to my regular doctor about the problems.

Yeah. There's a lot of signs here of this being something affecting the nervous system, and tetanus would be one of those very common possible causes.

The trembling and spasming in particular concerns me.

Sounds like you need an MRI or CT taken of your back. Is there any reason the docs didn't want to do that? Or are you just not covered for it and thus can't afford it?

I'm no doctor by any means but to me it sounds like pressure on the nerve, aka a slipped disc. An MRI would show where it is, how bad, and docs could start considering what could be done about it. It'd also show if I'm wrong.

The funny thing is, every doctor I've been to has specifically asked, "Have you had an MRI?" and I've told each of them no. And none of them have suggested it after that.

I agree with xodiac and mpanther, it sounds like a problem with your nerves, probably in your spine, maybe shoulders. Chiropractic might help, if you can get it. Massage... well, you know about that. And the next time a doctor asks if you've had an MRI, ask if you need one.

Let me third the "get an MRI" thing. The absolute first thought I had on this was "nerve problem", and unless you're being poisoned by something in your environment (highly unlikely, unless something changed significantly recently and that would probably be the first thing you'd blame anyway), a slipped disc is the most likely thing...

+1 on the nerve problem. Try seeing a specialist? You know, a neuropathologist.

Also, if it gets to MRI, AFAIK it runs at less than $500, and you still have the tiger card... feel free =^.^=
